Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program
GlobalJax is working with a group of young leaders from Iraq to improve their entrepreneurial skills. This program will not only enhance the youth’s knowledge of good business practices, but also expose them to different cultures and perspectives.
While in Jacksonville, participants will spend time working with other organizations that heavily involve the youth. They will meet with the Green Team Youth Corps to learn more about enhancing neighborhoods in the urban core, and the JAX Chamber to strengthen their understanding of the business environment in the U.S. By working and learning alongside other teens from Jacksonville, the youth leaders will strengthen their cross-cultural communication skills and make new connections. Other workshops with representatives from the UNF Small Business Development Center, Eighth & Whitner Group, LLC, and more, will provide hands on experiences to help the youth write effective business plans and gain tools to help them clearly present their business ideas.
In recent years, unemployment in Iraq has increased. In turn, many Iraqi entrepreneurs have created their own start-ups, in hopes to combat the pressing issue. Learning and working with some of Jacksonville’s entrepreneurial leaders, this group from Iraq will gain insight into practices that they can use in their own communities.
