Power Sector Reform: A Project for Iraq

March 22-27, 2018

About the Project:

This project will expose participants to the infrastructure, policies, organizational structures and technologies that, combined, form the U.S.’s power sector. Participants will participate in meetings, site visits, and activities that explore cutting edge power generation, distribution, and storage systems. They will review the regulatory policies and processes at the federal, state, and local level; as well as meet with those who help craft and shape such policies.

Project Context:

With the defeat of the Islamic State’s conventional military forces in Iraq, the country finally has a measure of respite within which to repair to its energy infrastructure. In this period of potential healing and growth, it is important for the Iraqi government to push through effective and capable power sector reform.
